My last trip in Vietnam had inspired me that it it would be great to combine the traditional look of an ao dai, and a crop modern style with skinny Jeans. Also love its silky fanric and the dark purple shade which does a good job in complementing my skinn tone. Both of my necklace and earrings sets are pretty sophisticated. At first, I was afraid it would be too much combining the two with lace traditional dress. However, this combination gave me a very chic and classic look. This is a picture of me receiving my recognition (sure it was not a pageant) Pearl Necklace Set: Jcrew
Pearl Earrings Set: Francesca Collection Dress: Tailored Made for me :) There is a part of me that want to look like a kid and there is a part of my that want to be a vintage lady. I have very round face to start with, which helps me to looks younger than my age. However, when I dress up, I would like to hide part of my chubby cheeks for a chic look. Contouring and proper blushing would help me achieve my goal, as seen in pictures. Let me know if you would like a tutorial :)
These pictures were taken in the make up room of one of Nuskin's founders - Sandie Tillotson. It was such a feminine vintage setting in this room. I wore a simple black sweater that day. What made me look vintage was the set of pearl bracelets that I was wearing. I love this set so much that I wore it 3 days on the row. It went with everything. I will have another post about lace and pearls.
Black sweater: Modcloth Pearl Bracelets Set: Francesca Collection Bow Necklaces: Kate Spade The truth about me is I'm pretty chubby and I have an undesirable waistline which I am working on a 90 days challenge. Will update with you once I can. I am 5 feet 7 and used to weigh around 110 lbs to 115 lbs before having babies. With the first pregnancy, I gained 45 lbs and with the second pregnancy, Ibgained 40 lbs. I breastfed with both babies so I had no problem loosing most of my weight. I weighed 120 to 125 lbs after the first birthday of the second child. The problem started when I stopped breast feeding, meaning I stopped burning an extra if 500 calories a day. So, here is how I actually look, and how a suitable outfit can hide my problems (plural - many problems). 1. Fit and flare: As you can see, I purposedly chose a lot of fit and flare dresses as I believe the fit and flare will hide your belly, your hips and fatty thighs very well. The flare shape will help define your waistline. That is about the dress. There is a saying that pictures can add 10 lbs to you, but if you know how to pose, you can look 10 lbs slimmer. It is more about knowing yourself and knowing which angels will make you look slimmer. I like the 3/4 angel, both for my face and body. Taking pictures on one side could be very dangerous, like this: Here are my strategies: I loved this dress from the first sight. I knew it would help me achieve a vintage look without trying hard. Since there are a lot of details on the skirt, the top has to be very simple to bring out the skirt. Skirt: H&M Conscious Floral Full Skirt
Top: H&M Tunic (purchased during the summer sales for $5) Earrings: Pearls Earrings Shoes: Ellen Tracy Peep Toes Heels So these are my daughter's beautiful dresses from Janie and Jack. They are made of 100% silk and have tulle underneath. Both are very delicate materials. They wore the dresses for the first time yesterday to a New Year party. I purposedly purchased a size up for each of them so that they can get the most use out of the dresses which were a little pricey. I came home from work this afternoon and my breath was taken away seing such a wrinkle mess came out of the washing machine...OMG they were my daughters' beautiful dresses. What do I do??? After a few search, I decided to mix diluted vinegar with warm water and rinsed the dress through. Here is how it looked after rinsing with vinegar water and then clean water. I used towel to absorb water from the dresses |
