So these are my daughter's beautiful dresses from Janie and Jack. They are made of 100% silk and have tulle underneath. Both are very delicate materials. They wore the dresses for the first time yesterday to a New Year party. I purposedly purchased a size up for each of them so that they can get the most use out of the dresses which were a little pricey. I came home from work this afternoon and my breath was taken away seing such a wrinkle mess came out of the washing machine...OMG they were my daughters' beautiful dresses. What do I do??? After a few search, I decided to mix diluted vinegar with warm water and rinsed the dress through. Here is how it looked after rinsing with vinegar water and then clean water. I used towel to absorb water from the dresses It was over 1:00 AM and I could not stand here to wait for the dresses to completely dry before ironing them. I then put them right above the heater's vent to speed up the drying process. Please note that direct sunlight or heat will make silk turn yellow. These pieces are red and I put the dresses far enough from the vent. After it was somewhat dry, I tested out ironing the dry parts first. Don't want to stay up all night for nothing :) After ironing the other side of the fabric, the result was not bad. It doesn't look as smooth as before, but it looks like it is how the dress was made because scratches are now all over 😁. I am going to bed now as the roses will be tough This is the dress after being ironed. It doesn't look the same anymore but it doesn't look like it was damaged. |
