The truth about me is I'm pretty chubby and I have an undesirable waistline which I am working on a 90 days challenge. Will update with you once I can. I am 5 feet 7 and used to weigh around 110 lbs to 115 lbs before having babies. With the first pregnancy, I gained 45 lbs and with the second pregnancy, Ibgained 40 lbs. I breastfed with both babies so I had no problem loosing most of my weight. I weighed 120 to 125 lbs after the first birthday of the second child. The problem started when I stopped breast feeding, meaning I stopped burning an extra if 500 calories a day. So, here is how I actually look, and how a suitable outfit can hide my problems (plural - many problems). 1. Fit and flare: As you can see, I purposedly chose a lot of fit and flare dresses as I believe the fit and flare will hide your belly, your hips and fatty thighs very well. The flare shape will help define your waistline. That is about the dress. There is a saying that pictures can add 10 lbs to you, but if you know how to pose, you can look 10 lbs slimmer. It is more about knowing yourself and knowing which angels will make you look slimmer. I like the 3/4 angel, both for my face and body. Taking pictures on one side could be very dangerous, like this: Here are my strategies: Like what I mentioned in my page's description, I am not dressing to impress. Additionally, I don't think I am at the level of a professional stylish to give advice to readers. I want to show you how I dress to make myself happier and more confident in how I look. This is the full picture of the red dress. That is not what you want!! I looked like 4 months pregnant. 2. Spanx and over size belt for mermaid dresses: It is great when you can choose fit and flare, but you can't always wear fit and flare. What are the alternatives? I had this mermaid polka dot dress tailored made for me a while back and didn't have the opportunity to wear it until my friend's wedding in August, when I had gained a tremendous of weights, like 10 lbs. Luckily that the fabric was stretchy, so I was still able to fit in the dress. Although I wore Spanx, my belly was pretty obvious. I used an oversize belt to hide part of it. Some people said big belt could make you look bigger, but for me, big belt created a more defined waistline as seen. I also held my clutch up not to look more chic but to hide my belly instead. As I had mentioned, the way you pose made a huge impact on how you appear on the pictures. When I gained weight, my arms, my belly, my hips, and my thighs were the areas that most of the weights landed. Therefore, I always found ways to make my arms thinner, like putting hands in pockets, holding purses would do the work. You don't want to look like this: 4. Midi dress: I was lucky that I had a decent height, which midi skirts and dresses would stretch out my legs even more. I added a belt to this midi dress to define my waist line. I chose the red one since this picture was taken last Christmas. 3: Off the shoulders: This is why I love dresses with pockets. Also, putting a belt will make you look slimmer because all attention is drawn to your waistline now. Of course I looked much skinnier in this picture. It was taken prior to my massive weight gain in 2014. I believe off the shoulders top help your arms look slimmer as it hid the biggest parts of your arms. 5. Bell shaped dress: At first I was skeptical in buying this dress as I was afraid it would should my belly. The cut and fit of this dress was pretty tight and snug around the waist area. The flare shape in the bottom help your waist line look even smaller. I added a belt to draw attention to my waist line. 6. Long Sweater: I felt in love with this long sweater from Ellen Tracy right away. When matching it with a dress that is a little longer or shorter, you can hide your sides pretty well. I read about dresses that illustrate a smaller waist, and this would do the same thing. I wore a yellow dress underneath to brighten up the outfit and have a point of focus. 7. Midi skirts with high waist: Before the wave of midi and vintage clothes hit the US, vintage styles had always inspired me and something I had to search high and low on Ebay. High waist helps your waist look smaller. Midi skirts help your legs look longer. The taller you are, the slimmer you will become. 8. Sweater tucked in belt: this picture was taken on the same day of my teal midi dress on Christmas 2014, and I believe I looked even slimmer in this outfit. If I button up this sweater, it wouldn't create the same effect. 9. High waist A line skirt: the same effect as fit and flare. I even like skirts better because the waist line of the skirt will draw attention to your smaller waist. 10. Long Top with Fitted Skirts: mermaid skirts are pretty dangerous as it will show your belly as is. I wore a white shirt that was long enough to cover my belly. It was a warp around shirt that has a little bow around the waist line. You can wear a similar shirt with a belt. I don't always dress like a princess. I love puffer coat with this skirt. 11. Stripes + Black and White: It is no doubt that vertical stripes make you look taller and slimmer. If you pair a black and white outfit, a black sweater would do a great job in slimming down your arms and tummy. 12. Oversize sweater: Whenever you wear an oversize sweater, be sure to wear a fitted bottom.
